A year after our wedding, my wife and I went on a belated honeymoon to Oahu, Hawaii. We didn't spend time doing the usual tourist things but, for most of our two weeks there, just hiked, explored the island and took lots of photos. On one of our rare walks on Waikiki beach, we spotted two people sitting on a bench under an enormous Banyan. In this painting, shade from the huge tree dominates the scene. The resulting coolness fools the viewer into thinking they are looking at Vancouver, until they spot the pink Royal Hawaiian Hotel.
